Dakota Ultrasonics MX-2

Discontinued replaced with ZX-1

The Dakota Ultrasonics MX-2 ultrasonic thickness gauge is a fixed velocity gauge making it an affordable precision tool that requires no special training to operate.  The Dakota Ultrasonics MX-2 ultrasonic thickness gauge has two user-programmable velocities and 8 pre-programmed velocities to measure the thickness of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, plexiglass, PVC, polystyrene, and polyurethane-making the Dakota Ultrasonics MX-2 and ideal model for the person who tests a few different materials regularly. This small, lightweight, water-resistant unit is easy to use and designed for the harshest environment.

Applications for us:

  • Corrosion & Pitting
  • Boilers
  • Tube & Pipe
  • Tanks

Measuring:

Range: Measures from 0.025″ to 19.999″ (0.63mm to 500 mm)

English or Metric units

Resolution:0.001″ (0.01mm)

Four reading per second for single point measurements or 16 per second in SCAN mode

1 or 2 point calibration

Velocity Settings: The MX-2 has 8 set velocities and 2 that are custom to the user’s applications.  The set velocities are as follows:

  1. Steel 4340 (0.2330)
  2. Stainless Steel 303 (0.2230)
  3. aluminum 2024 (0.2510)
  4. Cast Iron (0.1790)
  5. Plexiglass (0.1060)
  6. PVC (0.0940)
